Multiple Teams · Spring Postseason/Playoff Information


At the conclusion of the regular season, Varsity teams compete in playoffs, postseason contests and championship competitions. Below is information for the spring season.

Note: Playoff brackets will be posted on CountySportszone, which is also a great resource for checking results and standings. Additional playoff and postseason information can be found on the MPSSAA website.

Please note that admission to playoff and postseason contests may be higher than during the regular season, and might be charged for sports that do not usually charge admission. MPSSAA “open” tournaments have an admission price of $6 for all spectators. Only MPSSAA passes are accepted.

Teams that compete at the Montgomery County level only:

Boys and Coed Volleyball competes in the MCPS County Tournament. Only the top 16 schools out of 25 (by record) qualify for the playoffs. The first round of the playoffs will be held on Thursday, May 3rd. Blake’s Boys Volleyball team qualified for the playoffs as the #15 seed, but lost to #2 Churchill, 3-0 in the first round. Blake’s Volleyball season is now complete.

Gymnastics competed in the MCPS County Championship meet on Tuesday, May 8th at Gaithersburg HS and placed 5th as a team.

Teams that participate in the MPSSAA state “open” tournaments:

Baseball competes in the MPSSAA 3A West Region, Section I. There are six teams in the section; the top two (by record) earn a bye in the first round. The playoff brackets are now up – Baseball Playoff Bracket. Blake earned the #6 seed, and lost to #3 Manchester Valley, 5-2 in the first round of the playoffs on Thursday, May 10th. More information on the MPSSAA tournament, including the state semifinals and championship, can be found hereAdmission is $6 for all spectators over the age of six; only MPSSAA passes will be accepted (not MCPS employee ID’s or Blake season passes). Prices do increase at the State Semifinals and State Championship events.

Boys Lacrosse competes in the MPSSAA 3A West Region, Section I. There are six teams in the section; the top two (by record) earn a bye in the first round. The playoff brackets are now up – Boys Lacrosse Playoff Bracket. Blake is the #2 seed and has earned a first round bye. Blake defeated #6 Magruder, 9-8 in the Section Semifinal, but lost to #1 Westminster, 19-4 in the Section Final. Girls Lacrosse competes in the MPSSAA 3A West Region, Section I. There are six teams in the section; the top two (by record) earn a bye in the first round. The playoff brackets are now up – Girls Lacrosse Playoff Bracket. Blake earned the #5 seed and was defeated by #4 Manchester Valley, 23-1 in the first round of the playoffs on Wednesday, May 9th. Softball competes in the MPSSAA 3A West Region, Section I. There are six teams in the section; the top two (by record) earn a bye in the first round. The playoff brackets are now up – Softball Playoff Bracket. Blake earned the #2 seed and a first round bye. The Bengals lost to #3 Manchester Valley, 12-0 in the Section Semifinal. Teams that compete in County & Regional Competitions, and individuals qualify for States:

Boys Tennis is currently competing in the MCPS County Tournament (brackets can be found here). Blake will then compete in the MPSSAA Region II Tournament (brackets can be found here). The top four finishers in the Region Tournament qualify for the MPSSAA State Tournament, which will be held at Wilde Lake Tennis Club, on Friday, May 25th and Saturday, May 26th. Track & Field competed in the MCPS County Championship meet on Wednesday, May 9th at Watkins Mill HS. Blake’s Boys placed 3rd and the Girls finished 11th (Complete results here). Blake competed in the MPSSAA 3A West Region Championship Meet on Wednesday, May 16th and Monday, May 21st. Blake’s Boys placed 7th and the Girls finished 6th (Complete results here). Blake’s Boys team finished 11th and the Girls placed 29th at the MPSSAA 3A State Championship meet (Complete results here).
